Meetup on circular economy and sustainable business models held at FOI

Objavljeno: 21.04.2026

On Tuesday, April 14, a meetup dedicated to the topic of turning the circular economy from an abstract idea into concrete business opportunities, new collaborations, and sustainable operating models was held at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin.

The event brought together employers, entrepreneurs, and everyone interested in improving business operations through sustainable practices, with a special focus on increasingly important ESG requirements and the development of innovative products and services. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the concept of the circular economy and understand its key differences compared to the traditional linear model.

As part of the meetup, a set of tools and methods for modelling value chains in the circular economy was also presented. These tools were developed through the DECIDE project within the Danube Region Transnational Cooperation Programme 2021–2027. Special emphasis was placed on their practical application in business processes, particularly in the context of ESG and HACCP.

Through examples of good practice, participants were able to see concrete circular business models and discuss their applicability across different industries. The event also provided space for the exchange of ideas and experiences, as well as for establishing new partnerships and collaborations.

The meetup concluded with informal networking, during which participants continued discussions about the challenges and opportunities of implementing sustainable solutions in practice.
