The second edition of the Global Goals Jam competition was held on May 19–20 at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (University of Zagreb). The event brought together 12 teams dedicated to developing innovative and sustainable solutions for real societal and environmental challenges—through the use of digital technologies and creative teamwork.
The seventeenth FOI International Days 2025 were held at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin, from May 21 to 23, 2025, under the theme “International Horizons: Bridging Minds, Changing Lives!”. This year’s theme highlighted the transformative power of student mobility on personal, academic, and professional development.
The traditional 13th International Research Student Symposium on Intercultural Learning is being held at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics from May 25 to June 2, 2025. About 40 students and professors from partner institutions in the USA - University of Cincinnati, Ohio, University of Central Florida, Orlando and Indiana State University from Terre Haute, Indiana will participate in the Symposium. The project manager is Full Prof. Violeta Vidaček Hainš, PhD.
The Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) once again actively participated in the Science Festival, held from May 5 to 10, 2025. This year’s central theme was Networks, and FOI faculty members organized a series of engaging workshops designed to bring science closer to young people and the interested public. Throughout the week, FOI hosted numerous participants in interactive sessions covering various types of networks—from internet and social networks to mathematical and economic connections.
Students from FOI participated in the national final of the Project Management Championship on April 26, 2025. The competition, organized by IPMA Young Crew Croatia, was held in Zagreb at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. FOI was represented by three teams, and the team of second-year graduate students from the Business Systems Organization program - Jan Ivančić, Matija Kljaić, and Dominik Novak - won first place, securing their spot in the international finals, which will take place from June 6 to 8, 2025, in Warsaw, Poland.
More than 40 volunteers from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) actively participated in the preparation and organization of the 6th humanitarian "City of Angels" race, held on May 10, 2025, in Varaždin.
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, FOI was visited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif Akgul from the partners’ institution Indiana State University, Terre Haute, USA. The professor is a Fulbright scholar at the University of Zagreb. The guest was hosted and greeted by the Dean of FOI, Prof. Dr. Marina Klačmer Čalopa, Prof. Dr. Violeta Vidaček Hainš, Head of the Office for International Cooperation FOI Izabela Oletić Tušek nd Dr. Damir Vučić.
Teams consisting of students from the course Artificial Intelligence for Business Applications (Information and Business Systems study, specialization Artificial Intelligence in Business) and students from the course Business Decision Making (Economics of Entrepreneurship study) defended the first phase of joint projects they are developing within both courses.
At the Fachhochschule des BFI Wirtschaft, Management Finance in Vienna, the workshop “Development of Pilot Courses “ was organized during May 8th and 9th 2025. This workshop is part of the Erasmus+ Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education Teaching and Learning AI-HED project.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 25 students led by Assoc. Prof. Whitney Westrich and Assoc. Prof. Jaime Windeler from the University of Cincinnati (UC) visited FOI. This visit is part of the virtual collaboration at the Human Resources and Career Development course, taught by Prof. Marina Klacmer Čalopa and Prof. Violeta Vidaček Hainš.
