FOI Signs New Cooperation Agreement with Korea National University of Education (KNUE)

A Cooperation Agreement between the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) and the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) was signed in South Korea on May 12, 2026, with the aim of strengthening international academic cooperation through faculty and student mobility, as well as the development of joint research and project initiatives.

KNUE is a leading Korean higher education institution specialized in the education of future teachers and the development of educational experts and managers in higher education. The University is recognized for its strong scientific contribution in the field of pedagogy, as well as for integrating digital technologies into education, thereby actively contributing to the development of modern curricula and educational policies at the global level.

The agreement is the result of academic cooperation between Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, PhD and Prof. Goran Hajdin, PhD and the professors and management of KNUE, who held a series of meetings and academic activities during their visit to the Republic of Korea.

During their stay in Korea, Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, PhD and Associate Prof. Goran Hajdin, PhD also delivered guest lectures for KNUE faculty members and students enrolled in graduate and doctoral KOICA programs.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) implements international development cooperation and capacity-building programs for partner countries, often in collaboration with renowned universities such as Sejong University. These programs, including CIAT (Capacity Improvement & Advancement for Tomorrow), are focused on educating public officials, experts, and policymakers through knowledge exchange and competency development.

As part of the program, Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, PhD delivered a lecture titled “Strategic Planning and Decision Making in Education”, emphasizing the importance of agile decision-making in higher education and the adaptation of teaching processes in the context of disruptive technologies, with a particular focus on developing critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Associate Prof. Goran Hajdin, PhD delivered a lecture titled “Aren’t You Already Tired of AI?”, examining the phenomenon of “AI fatigue” in education and its actual role in teaching beyond technological hype. Through an interactive approach, the lecture opened discussion on the impact of AI on academic writing, curricula, and teacher education.

This agreement represents an important step in strengthening FOI’s international visibility and further developing cooperation in the fields of education, digital technologies, and innovation in learning and teaching.
