On Thursday, 28 May 2026, female and male students of the first year of the Graduate Study in Economics of Entrepreneurship visited the City of Varaždin as a local self-government unit within the course Public Management.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the history of the City of Varaždin and the City Hall, the structure of the City Administration, and the ways in which the City of Varaždin is managed as a local self-government unit, as well as the activities of municipal companies and institutions. The students were briefly addressed by the Mayor of the City of Varaždin, PhD Neven Bosilj, who showed them his office and presented the organization of the City of Varaždin.
In the continuation of the visit, students became more closely acquainted with the work of the City’s administrative departments and spoke with department heads, who presented their daily activities and the challenges of working in local government. Special emphasis was placed on public finance management, the process of preparing the City of Varaždin budget, and employment opportunities in public administration.
Such field-based teaching activities enable students to connect the theoretical knowledge acquired in the Public Management course with practical examples of public administration and to better understand the role of local government in community development.
