The 36th Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems (CECIIS 2025) brings together researchers, academics, and industry professionals in Varaždin to discuss disruptive technologies as key drivers of innovation and their impact on science, technology, and society. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) hosted a thematic lecture on gender equality, delivered by Croatia's Gender Equality Ombudsperson, Višnja Ljubičić, mag.iur. The lecture, which addressed current challenges and trends in achieving gender equality in Croatia, attracted a significant number of students, faculty members and staff.
The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) has launched a three-day training program titled "How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) changing schools?" designed for school principals in Varaždin County. The program, held on January 22, 24, and 27, 2025, took place at the County Palace Hall and the Center for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning in Villa Oršić (FOI 3). It provided participants with an opportunity to gain new knowledge about artificial intelligence and its applications in educational processes. The training was led by Full Prof. Blaženka Divjak, PhD with the support of a team of FOI professors.
From January 15th to 16th, 2025, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics is hosting 15 students and 5 professors from the University of Pannonia in Nagykanizsa. This two-day visit is designed to enhance collaboration and facilitate the exchange of ideas between the two institutions. Initiated by the University of Pannonia, the visit builds on the successful collaboration established through the cross-border IC4HEDS project. At FOI, the project has been coordinated by Full Prof. Vjeran Strahonja, Ph.D., who, in collaboration with the FOI International Office, has created the program for the visit.
From 16 to 18 December 2024, the Erasmus+ SuMoS project kick-off meeting, fully titled Strengthening the ecosystem for sustainable student mobility, was held in Varaždin, organized by the project coordinator, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics. The meeting was held in a hybrid format and was led by the project coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Katarina Pažur Aničić, Ph.D.
On Friday, December 13, the third session of the Economic Council of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics was held.
The Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI), a constituent of the University of Zagreb, celebrated its 50th anniversary of establishment and 62 years of existence on December,18th, 2024. A ceremonial session held at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin gathered the extended FOI community, including employees, students, partners, and friends of the Faculty.
On Thursday and Friday, December 12 and 13, 2024, the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project My Robot, My LearnMate was held. This project brings together experts from various fields with the aim of developing innovative solutions for the application of humanoid robots in educational processes. The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) participates as one of the key partners, led by Prof. Igor Balaban, Ph. D., contributing to the strengthening of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in education.
The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics actively expands its partner network of international universities every year. For the academic year 2025/26 until 2028/29, in addition to already existing partnerships, the Faculty signed three new bilateral agreements with prestigious universities in the Czech Republic, France and Lithuania.
