The team consisted of second-year undergraduate professional study students in Information Technology and Business Digitalization: Silvio Crnički, Mark Cvitan, and Mateo Čić, along with first-year student Matej Bojčić from the same program. Their mentor was Associate Professor Katarina Pažur Aničić, PhD.
The first phase of the competition was a qualification round consisting of 100 project management questions, with a time limit of 100 minutes. After successfully completing the qualification round, the FOI team advanced to the national finals held on April 25 in Zagreb.
The final stage began with an introduction to the organizers and the competition concept, followed by work on a case study prepared in collaboration with the main sponsor, LAQO Insurance. The task was to design a solution that would encourage young people aged 18 to 30 to use health and supplementary insurance.
During four hours of intensive work, the students conducted a market analysis and developed a concept for a mobile application. Their solution was based on affordable insurance packages combined with an innovative reward model—users would collect points through physical activity and movement, which could then be redeemed for benefits related to health and supplementary insurance.
After completing their solution, the team had 10 minutes to present, followed by an additional 10 minutes to answer questions from the expert jury. After all teams had presented, the winners were announced, with the FOI students winning an excellent second place, confirming the quality of their knowledge and their ability to apply theory in real business situations.
This achievement is further proof that FOI students actively participate in relevant professional competitions and continuously develop competencies that are highly valued in the labor market.
Congratulations!
