FOI students won at hackathon with an innovative application

The first edition of Change Code hackathon competition was organized by KING ICT. The competitors had to develop a virtual place which would connect associations who need help with citizens who are willing to volunteer.

Ten teams participated in the competition, and two of the teams consisted of students from Faculty of Organization and Informatics. The team named Do you Even Code?, with members Tino Balint, Dean Jakovljević, Antonio Martinović and Igor Rinkovec, won the first place and the prize of 20.000 HRK. Their solution had the best grades in functionality and user experience. The solution encourages citizens to volunteer with the use of chatbots which help in the organization and participation in volunteering actions.The aforementioned solution consists of a mobile application for volunteers and web applications for administrators from the Volunteer centre of Zagreb, VCZ and organizations seeking volunteers. The winning solution and its functionality were presented at the recent "Corporate Governance" conference. The other FOI solution, based on the use of artificial intelligence and facial recognition, won the second place in the competition.
