Gold medal for FOI smart irrigation project at INOVA-MLADI 2026
At the 26th INOVA-MLADI 2026 innovation exhibition in Zagreb, FOI students won a gold medal in the “faculty” category. The award went to Filip Grgac, Kristian Katulić, and Karlo Kršak for their innovative project “Smart Plant Irrigation System”.
First place for FOI student at International Project Management Forum
FOI students also participated in the international Project Management Forum organized by the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade. Working in international teams, FOI student Ema Andjelković achieved first place, confirming the excellence of FOI students in an international environment.
Second place at IPMA Young Crew Croatia
FOI students achieved excellent success by winning second place at the national project management competition organized by IPMA Young Crew Croatia, part of the International Project Management Association. The FOI team consisted of students from the professional study programme Information Technology and Business Digitalization: Silvio Crnički, Mark Cvitan, Mateo Čić, and Matej Bojčić.
Sustainable innovation awards at Global Goals Jam 2026
In cooperation with the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering in Varaždin and the Makerspace association, FOI hosted the international interdisciplinary competition Global Goals Jam Varaždin 2026, focused on developing innovative solutions for sustainability and social impact.
Seven student teams developed projects related to sustainable development, digital technologies, and social innovation. The winning teams were:
1st place: Laura Kronast, Paula Cesar, Niko Korać (FOI), and Nikola Petek (GFV) – “Iskrica znanja”
2nd place: Ana Rudolf, Natali Novoselec, Jasmina Kramarić (FOI), Petra Rajn, and Abel Sabolek (GFV) – “Zero Waste Kitchen”
3rd place: Lana Makar, Lovro Mastelić, Tea Komes, and Dominik Krog (FOI) – “SunNova”
Winning investment strategies at the first Portfolio Masters competition
FOI successfully hosted the first edition of the investment competition Portfolio Masters, organized by the Student Support and Career Development Centre, investment company InterCapital ETF d.o.o., and students of the graduate study programme Entrepreneurial Economics.
Eleven teams and nearly 40 students participated, developing their own ETF strategies and demonstrating strong analytical skills, financial literacy, and creativity.

Strong performance at FOI’s first CTF cybersecurity competition
The International WebSec Initiative 2026, an international project dedicated to web and cybersecurity, included FOI’s first-ever Capture The Flag (CTF) competition, organized by students of FOI Dev Club with institutional and partner support.
Nine teams competed, and the top results were:

2nd place: Ilias Aklaf, Jaasin M.M.P., Borna Bojkić, Benjamin Nujić
3rd place: Lana Kelić, Karlo Svetec, Fernando Perak, Marin Rameša
Karla Kulier wins KodiraONA competition
A standout success comes from FOI student Karla Kulier, who won 1st place at the KodiraONA competition, dedicated to promoting excellence in predictive analytics and digital technologies among women.
Her winning solution, “SCO Intelligence”, impressed the expert jury with its strong analytical approach and ability to transform data into actionable business decisions. The solution focuses on identifying retail locations where introducing self-checkout systems would have the highest impact, enabling data-driven rather than intuition-based decision-making.
As part of her award, Karla will also present her solution at the .debug conference in Zagreb and has won a six-week mentorship programme at Studenac, where she will further develop her skills in analytics and data science.

These achievements once again confirm the high quality of education, interdisciplinarity, and strong student engagement at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, as well as the importance of connecting academic learning with industry and international academic environments.
