FOI students develop digital solutions for sustainability in an international setting

Bringing together students and academic staff from five European countries, exchanging knowledge and applying digital technologies to sustainability were at the heart of the international workshop “Green Thinking & Digital Action”, held from 22 to 24 September 2026 in Kranj, Slovenia, with the participation of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI).

Hosted by the University of Maribor’s Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FOV UM), the event brought together students and academic staff from Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, France and Slovenia. The workshop offered an opportunity to strengthen SUZG FOI’s international cooperation while combining learning, teamwork and practical responses to sustainability challenges.

Working in seven teams, students developed digital solutions to raise awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development. Their work included service design, prototyping and the development of conversational agent concepts, connecting creative ideas with the practical potential of digital technologies.

Working in an international environment enabled participants to exchange perspectives and experiences while developing skills for collaboration and joint problem-solving. For UNIZG FOI, such events offer an opportunity to enrich the student experience and deepen partnerships with higher education institutions abroad, connecting knowledge with current societal and environmental challenges.

The workshop and accompanying partner meetings took place within the SuMoS – Strengthening the ecosystem for sustainable student mobility project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme under KA220-HED – Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education (2024-1-HR01-KA220-HED-000254853).
