International Student Section CECIIS 2026 with participants from South Africa, India, Ireland, Slovakia and Croatia

The 16th Student Online and Poster Section CECIIS 2026 will be gathering a diverse group of students from several countries. This year, participants are joining from South Africa, India, Ireland, Slovakia and Croatia, contributing to the international character and interdisciplinary spirit of the conference.

The chairs of the CECIIS Student Section are Prof. Violeta Vidaček Hainš, Ph.D., from University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin, Prof. Victoria Appatova, Ph.D., from University of Cincinnati in Ohio, USA, and Assoc. Prof. Ing. Peter Márton, Ph.D., from University of Žilina Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, Slovakia, with associate Ana Novak, Univ.M.Econ..

This year’s Student Section will host invited lecturer Prof. Hanlie Smuts, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Informatics and Chair of the School of Information Technology at the University of Pretoria. The topic of Professor Hanlie Smuts's invited lecture is: Who Owns You Online: what happens when you log out for good. Her lecture will address critical questions of digital identity, data ownership, and the implications of permanent digital disengagement. The lecture will be held on September 16, 2026, starting at 2:30 PM in Room 8 at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin (FOI 1 building).

A total of 13 student research projects have been accepted for presentation, involving 20 students in total. Students come from India, Ireland, Slovakia and Croatia, and will present their work within the interdisciplinary framework of digital technologies, innovation, and information systems.
