Career Compass project launched

Created: 13.07.2026

At the beginning of July 2026, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics signed a Grant Agreement for the implementation of the project Career Compass: Enhancing the Employability of Faculty of Organization and Informatics Students Through Professional Practice (SF.2.4.06.08.0053), financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) within the 2021–2027 financial framework.

The project is implemented by the Centre for Student Support and Career Development (CPSRK), in cooperation with and with the support of the Faculty’s teaching staff and professional services.

The aim of the project is to enhance students’ employability by strengthening the Faculty’s capacities for implementing various forms of acquiring practical knowledge and skills, as well as by further connecting students with employers, alumni, and the labour market.

As part of the project, a range of activities focused on students’ career development and practical competencies will be carried out, including:

  • implementation of professional practice with employers, enabling students to gain valuable practical experience during their studies;
  • evaluation of professional practice at the level of each study programme and academic year, in order to monitor the alignment of learning outcomes with labour market needs and develop recommendations for its further improvement;
  • development of career counselling and strengthening of the alumni community through the creation of career pathways for the ten most common professions of FOI alumni, organisation of workshops and round tables, company visits and events in cooperation with alumni, as well as the development of the FOI alumni and mentoring programme;
  • improvement of other forms of acquiring practical skills, including innovative models of project-based and practical teaching, fieldwork, student participation in conferences and competitions, preparation of professional papers by students and mentors, and development of a methodology for recognising previously acquired practical competencies.

The project will be implemented from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029.

The total project value amounts to EUR 290,041.10, of which EUR 284,240.27 represents non-refundable grant funding.

The project represents another important step forward for the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in strengthening the quality of student education and connecting academic learning with the needs of the modern labour market. It will provide students with additional opportunities to develop their competencies and successfully begin their professional careers.
