The Summer School 2025 covered current topics in the fields of:
databases
web programming and web security
asymmetric cryptography and its applications.
During the first three weeks, the program included two FOI courses. Prof. Markus Schatten, Ph.D., delivered lectures on the Introductory Database Course, while Assoc. Prof. Matija Novak, Ph.D., together with teaching assistant Marija Maček led the course Web Programming and Web Security Fundamentals. These courses were attended by 13 students from France, who, upon successfully passing the exams, earned 3 ECTS credits per course.
In the final week, from September 22 to 25, Prof. Robert Erra, Ph.D., from ESIEA, taught the course An Introduction to Asymmetric Cryptography & Its Applications. In this part of the program, 10 FOI students also joined, and all participants earned 1 ECTS credit for attendance. As in the previous year, all lectures were conducted in English.
In addition to the academic program, FOI also organized social activities and excursions. Students had the opportunity to experience Croatian culture and natural beauty, with highlights including trips to Zadar, the Nin Saltworks, and Plitvice Lakes National Park — all excellent opportunities for bonding and networking outside the classroom.
The FOI–ESIEA Summer School 2025 was organized by FOI’s International Relations Office, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Science, Projects, and International Cooperation. The International Relations Office was also in charge of arranging the stay for French students, including informal gatherings that further enriched their experience.
Once again, the Summer School confirmed the importance of international cooperation in higher education, providing students with opportunities to acquire new knowledge, develop professional and intercultural competences, and build valuable international friendships.
