President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a lecture today in Varaždin for students of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics on the topic “Global Challenges and the Political Environment”, highlighting FOI as one of the most reputable institutions in Croatia.
The 36th International Scientific Conference CECIIS – Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems – was held from September 17th to 19th 2025 at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin. It was held in a hybrid format – both on-site and online – and brought together more than one hundred participants from across Europe and worldwide, including researchers, industry experts, and students. This year, 86 scientific papers authored and co-authored by 230 researchers from 21 countries on five continents have been accepted.
The CECIIS 2025 conference will take place from 17 to 19 September 2025 in Varaždin, with the option of online participation, offering attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss innovations in the field of information and intelligent systems. Conference program is available here.
The Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin organized and held the student conference within the Erasmus+ project AI2SEP – Developing Talents in Artificial Intelligence to Solve Disruptive Environmental Problems, from September 8 to 11, 2025. The conference brought together more than 25 professors and students from Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Slovenia, along with the hosts – FOI students and faculty members.

What should universities do today to remain relevant tomorrow? From July 2 to 4, 2025, the partners of the international SuMoS project gathered at the partner institution ESIEA in Paris for a three-day event that included a focus group and a working meeting dedicated to the development of the Institutional Student Mobility Ecosystem (ISME).
Around one hundred experts discussed the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. From June 30 to July 2, 2025, several events took place as part of the Erasmus+ project Innovating Learning Design in Higher Education (iLed) and the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) project Trustworthy Learning Analytics and AI for Sound Learning Design (TRUELA).
The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics is launching the construction phase of the first Regional Pre-incubation Center for Smart Industry in Croatia's academic sector – a strategic and innovative project with a total value of €6.1 million. The project is being implemented with the support of the ITU mechanism and in partnership with the City of Varaždin. It marks a turning point in higher education, youth empowerment, and strengthening the economy of Northern Croatia.
The final conference of the iLed project, titled "Learning Design in the AI Era", will take place on 1 July 2025 at the University of Zagreb's School of Medicine. The event will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping learning design in higher education and beyond.
