Student Conference within the AI2SEP Project held at FOI

The Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin organized and held the student conference within the Erasmus+ project AI2SEP – Developing Talents in Artificial Intelligence to Solve Disruptive Environmental Problems, from September 8 to 11, 2025. The conference brought together more than 25 professors and students from Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Slovenia, along with the hosts – FOI students and faculty members.

The program included lectures by professors on current topics in the field of artificial intelligence, open data, science communication, and the impact of AI technologies on the labour market. A special part of the conference was dedicated to student project and paper presentations, which were further developed and refined in the coming days in preparation for the Student Section of the CECIIS conference, to be held a week later, also organized at FOI.

About the AI2SEP Project

The main objective of the project is to increase the quality of higher education through the development and pilot implementation of 14 AI/ML modules and 10 research projects, worth a total of 64 ECTS, by September 30, 2026. The goal will be supported by extensive dissemination and training activities, as well as through cooperation within an international consortium of 5 higher education institutions and one associated partner.

The project is funded under the Erasmus+ program, with a total budget of EUR 400,000.00. The lead partner is the University of Silesia, with project partners including the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (University of Zagreb), University of Maribor, Pavol Jozef Šafarik University and Vilnius University.

Connecting Science and Community

In addition to the academic part, participants also get to know the cultural heritage of Varaždin and its surroundings through visits to the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, Trakošćan Castle and a guided tour of Varaždin. The conference at FOI represented an important step in connecting the international student community and fostering the development of young talents in the field of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on socially beneficial applications of technology.
