Dev Club: A new community for FOI students interested in coding and game development

Created: 24.11.2025

A new student community called Dev Club has been launched at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) in Varaždin. The club brings together students interested in programming, software development, and technology, with the goal of encouraging hands-on work, collaboration, and knowledge sharing through workshops, hackathons, and student-led development projects.

The initiative was started by Luka Ružić, a second-year undergraduate student in Information and Business Systems. Together with fellow members Anja Peharda, Ivan Lalić, and Petra Knežević, he aims to create a space where students can develop their ideas, gain practical experience, and participate in organizing events at FOI.

Dev Club’s first major activity was the FOI Game Jam, a 24-hour game-development competition themed “unpredictability.” The winner was student Adrian Stojić, whose game impressed the jury with its originality and playful concept. The strong turnout and collaborative atmosphere confirmed high student interest in practical tech-related activities.

The club gathers not only programmers but also students interested in event organization, media production, video, and photography. Upcoming plans for the academic year include a larger 48-hour FOI Game Jam, student-led programming workshops, development of the community’s website, and the creation of a dedicated “Dev Space” for project work.

Dev Club operates with the support of FOI’s Career and Professional Development Center (CPSRK) and the FOI Student Council, and plans to build partnerships with IT companies to further expand learning opportunities. It is set to become a valuable hub for FOI students to gain practical skills, collaborate with peers, and bring their development projects to life.
