During the 2023/2024 academic year, the University of Zagreb and the Zagreb Academic Sports Association organized more than 20 local-level sports competitions for higher education institutions, involving over 300 teams and more than 5,000 students. At the national level, the University of Zagreb won 34 medals, while internationally, it secured 30 medals, resulting in a total of 64 medals in a single academic year.
The University of Zagreb concluded the 2023/2024 academic year as the leading university in Europe based on the number of medals won by its students at European university championships. Additionally, the University received two prestigious awards from the European University Sports Association (EUSA): Best European Sports University and Most Active European Sports University for 2023.
Within the UniSport Zagreb system, competitions were held in 25 sports over the last academic year, with teams from 44 higher education institutions across the Zagreb area participating.
Among the awarded students were FOI table tennis players Sara Sušac and Karla Franović, who were recognized for their outstanding international sports achievements during the 2023/2024 academic year. They also received the award for Best Women’s Team of the University of Zagreb for 2023/2024 as members of the table tennis team.
