FOI student recognized for outstanding work in cybersecurity

Created: 22.12.2025

We are proud to announce that Anamarija Dominiković, a student at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) in Varaždin, has been awarded the Outstanding Student Paper recognition by the Croatian Institute for Cyber Security (HIKS) for 2025. The recognition was granted during the annual HIKS ceremony held in December, 2025, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb.

Anamarija’s work, titled “User Privacy in the Financial Sector: Applying the LINDDUN Methodology to Mobile Banking Applications”, is a bachelor’s thesis submitted in the Information and Business Systems program at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin, and was published on July 7, 2025. She was nominated for this award by Prof. Dr. Renata Mekovec.

The thesis combines theoretical and practical analysis of key aspects of cybersecurity, focusing on the privacy and security of mobile banking applications. In the practical part, Anamarija applied the LINDDUN methodology to analyze privacy threats in two applications: Revolut, an international digital banking app, and m-zaba, the mobile app of Zagrebačka Banka in Croatia. The study identifies potential vulnerabilities, compares security measures, and proposes recommendations to enhance privacy protection. By addressing these critical issues, the work contributes directly to safeguarding users and strengthening the resilience of the financial ecosystem against sophisticated cyber attacks.

We are particularly proud that our students engage with current, real-world challenges such as user privacy protection, demonstrating that they are capable of making meaningful contributions to the development of cybersecurity and digital financial services.

Congratulations to Anamarija on this well-deserved recognition!
