The conference was opened by the President of the University of Regensburg, Prof. Udo Hebel, PhD, who emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in strengthening the European Higher Education Area. The event gathered representatives from more than six universities and two research institutes from Croatia, as well as nine universities and four universities of applied sciences from Bavaria. The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics was represented by Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Ivan Malbašić, PhD and Assoc. Prof. Zlatko Stapić, PhD.
Vice Dean for Education and Students, Zlatko Stapić, spoke about FOI’s research laboratories and presented the topic "Innovative Teaching Methods Supported by Artificial Intelligence", highlighting the significance of an experimental approach and the use of emerging technologies in higher education.
Vice Dean for Business and Human Resources, Ivan Malbašić, presented FOI as a modern and internationally oriented faculty of the University of Zagreb. He gave a presentation titled "Entrepreneurial Skills for a Sustainable Economy", emphasizing the importance of developing competencies that contribute to sustainability and innovation in the economy.
On behalf of the University of Zagreb, the Vice-Rector for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation, Prof. Jurica Pavičić, PhD, also addressed the audience. He underlined the importance of expanding university cooperation beyond the academic sphere, into cultural, economic, and political dimensions.
The central part of the conference included meetings of university leadership, thematic discussions on current challenges and opportunities in higher education, and a series of workshops in which participants exchanged concrete proposals for future cooperation. Discussions focused on topics such as internationalization, artificial intelligence, sustainability, technology transfer, and diversity. This event marks another step toward strengthening FOI’s international visibility and opening new opportunities for scientific and educational collaboration with Bavarian institutions.
