Strengthening Cross-Border Collaboration in Higher Education with Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor

The Vice-Deans of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics visited the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor to enhance academic collaboration and exchange experiences between the two institutions. The visit focused on key topics related to improving international programs, lifelong learning, and joint research projects.

The FOI delegation included Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, PhD, Vice-Dean for Science, Projects, and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Zlatko Stapić, PhD, Vice-Dean for Education and Students, Assoc. Prof. Ivan Malbašić, PhD, Vice-Dean for Business Operations and Human Resources and Prof. Zlatko Erjavec, PhD, Vice-Dean for Study Programs. On behalf of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor, the discussions were led by Prof. Jernej Belak, PhD and Prof. Igor Vrečko, PhD.

Special attention was given to the implementation of study programs in English, including strategies to attract and better integrate international students. Challenges and opportunities in the development of lifelong learning programs, which are increasingly vital in modern education, were also discussed.

Additionally, the importance of greater involvement in international projects was emphasized, along with strategies to promote research activities and monitor the scientific achievements of faculty members. Such projects are crucial for enhancing educational quality and scientific productivity at both institutions.

The visit further solidified the relationship between FOI and the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor, opening the door to new ideas and initiatives. The exchange of experiences and collaborative efforts on these topics are essential steps towards developing modern and competitive educational programs that address the challenges of the global market and education.
