Created: 24.04.2024

We are pleased to invite you to join us at the sixteenth edition of the FOI International Days, which will take place from 15th to 17th May, 2024 at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin.

As in previous years, FOI International Days will begin on Wednesday (May 15th) with a welcoming event for our international guests, a presentation about the Faculty, a visit to the Student Center and a city tour of Varaždin, followed by an evening of socializing with a pub quiz.

The central day of the event is Thursday, May 16th, 2024. Following the welcome and introductory speeches, three keynote lectures will be held. Full Prof. Jurica Pavičić, Vice-Rector for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation at the University of Zagreb, will present the importance of sustainable academic partnerships using the example of the UNIC network. The University of Zagreb joined the European University of Post-Industrial Cities (UNIC) in 2020, which brings together eight European universities dedicated to mobility and inclusivity for social impact. Marco van Hout, Creative Director and Co-founder of the Digital Society School at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, will speak on the topic "Transformation by Design: Shaping Partnerships and Global Learning Communities," while Dr. Christopher McGrew from the Center for Global Engagement at Indiana State University in the USA will discuss the importance of collaboration among regional institutions.

After the keynote lectures, there will be an engaging panel discussion on the highly relevant topic titled "Empowering Sustainable Partnerships and Friendships through Internationalization", moderated by Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Vice-Dean of FOI for Science, Projects and International Cooperation.

At the end of the programme, representatives from partner institutions from the USA (Pennsylvania State University), South Africa (University of Pretoria), and Germany (Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences) will present their institutions, highlighting their internationalization strategies and mobility opportunities for FOI students and staff.

The last day of the programme, Friday, May 17th, 2024, is reserved for a workshop for students titled "Mini Entrepreneurial Challenge" and individual meetings between international guests and researchers from FOI laboratories. During the workshop led by Assoc. Prof. Jeannette Miller from Pennsylvania State University and Assoc. Prof. Kristina Detelj, FOI students will have the opportunity to collaborate in teams with students from the USA, Austria, Slovakia, and France to develop a business idea in a short period and within multidisciplinary groups.

As part of the FOI International Days program, there will also be a Horizon Europe program Info Day at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics.

FOI International Team

The second-largest international event at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (after the international conference CECIIS), we are organizing it for the sixteenth time this year. FOI International Days are a traditional event that has been organized continuously every spring since 2008 (with the exception of the pandemic year 2020), and since 2018, it has been a multi-day event called FOI International Days. The aim of International Days is networking and exchanging experiences and ideas related to international cooperation and internationalization, as well as promoting the international activities of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and partner universities. During these few days, we host international guests from partner institutions, organize keynote lectures by renowned experts and scientists, panel discussions, workshops, and events for students, as well as individual meetings and informal gatherings to facilitate networking.
