Eight FOI students (Karmelo Mrvica, Nina Krsnik, Bruno Tuškan, Ante Marić, Lorena Marić, Marin Vabec, Dino Kurbegović, and Klara Tepić) spent six days in Antwerp, Belgium, accompanied by Professor Katarina Tomičić-Pupek, PhD, as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program. The entire program lasted five weeks, with preparatory online lectures and a final on-site week from November 17 to 21.
This five-week program explored the differences between misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation — how to identify them, potential misuse, and the best approaches to improving media literacy in the age of AI and media oversaturation. The program also included hands-on work; students were required to create a media campaign with physical promotional materials, and at the end of the on-site week they got the chance to present their work at a fair. Besides learning, they also had plenty of time to hang out and explore the city, and they shared a few impressions from the trip:
“We worked on interesting projects with new people, and on top of that we had enough free time to explore. We made friends quickly and saw a lot. An awesome experience — highly recommended to anyone thinking about applying in the future.”
– Ante
“BIP is an experience I’d recommend to anyone who has the chance while they’re still a student. I met a lot of interesting people and, in the end, made new friendships. The hosting university was really well-organized, and the schedule wasn’t tiring — it was actually fun. We had plenty of free time to explore the city and hang out with other students. A great option for anyone who isn’t ready for a long Erasmus program but still wants a taste of studying abroad.”
– Bruno
“BIP is an experience that can’t be fully explained — you have to live it. I enjoyed every moment, met many new people, worked on an interesting project, and discovered a new way of learning and expressing creativity. What I especially loved was the balance between learning, traveling, and having fun, which gave the whole experience a unique vibe.”
– Klara
“This BIP was unforgettable and insanely fun. We learned so much, not only about the topic, but also about other cultures. Besides the learning part, there were lots of other activities, and all together it turned into an irreplaceable experience.”
– Marin
“If you want an Erasmus experience in a shorter format, BIP is perfect. Our trip to Belgium lasted only six days, but in that short time we learned so many interesting things from international professors, bonded with students from around the world, and got to know a new city. By the end of the BIP we had a completed hands-on project and new knowledge — but above all, new friendships, memories, and experiences. Highly recommended to all students.”
– Lorena
We’re happy to welcome our students and professor back home, and for all interested students — stay tuned, because many more similar exchanges are on the way.
