Opening conference of the ITEO 2.0 project in Međimurje

The opening conference of the ITEO 2.0 project – Strengthening STEM in Međimurje, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus, through the Effective Human Resources 2021–2027 program, was held at the Technology and Innovation Center Međimurje.

The project leader is the Association of Young IT Experts (MIS), and the total value is 287,639.03 euros, with 100% support intensity (85% EU funds, 15% state budget). The project lasts from March 12, 2025 to September 12, 2027, and aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to carry out STEM activities, through cooperation with educational institutions, education and mentoring of young people, and the development of a network of partnerships and the exchange of knowledge. 

The conference was attended by representatives of the project partners: REDEA, University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics(FOI), Međimurje Informatics Club (MIK), three elementary schools (Mala Subotica, Sveta Marija, Gornji Mihaljevec) and Secondary School Čakovec.

 As a higher education institution with extensive experience in the STEM field and youth work, FOI will contribute to strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations through professionally designed education and mentoring work through the project.

At the conference, FOI was represented by the leader of the FOI team, Asst. Prof. Matija Novak, Ph. D., who pointed out:

The Faculty is proud to participate in the project as an educational institution that will empower employees, members and volunteers of civil society organizations through education and mentorship. The acquired knowledge and skills will enable them to transfer STEM content to children and young people through workshops and educational programs.

The project includes a series of workshops, educations and strengthening cooperation between schools and the civil sector, with the aim of popularizing STEM among young people.
