The 14th Student Research Symposium on Intercultural Learning took place in the USA from 31 August to 10 September 2026, continuing a longstanding tradition. FOI students Mihaela Sedlar, Niko Rastija and Dino Plodinec visited the University of Cincinnati in Ohio and Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, as well as Chicago. They were accompanied by Professor Violeta Vidaček Hainš, PhD, who led the Symposium from 2010 to 2026, and Damir Vučić, PhD, both faculty members at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics.
This year, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics once again participated in the EAIE Conference and Exhibition, Europe’s largest conference dedicated to international higher education. The event in Glasgow brought together more than 7,300 international higher education professionals from over 100 countries. FOI was represented by Associate Professor Martina Tomičić Furjan, PhD, Vice-Dean for Research, Projects and International Cooperation, and Izabela Oletić Tušek, Head of the Centre for International Cooperation.
On Wednesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 23, 2026, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI) hosted a seminar and a workshop dedicated to the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and large language models (LLMs) in scientific research. The activities were organized as part of the research visit of Prof. Luis de Marcos Ortega from the University of Alcalá (Spain), carried out within the activities of FOI’s Laboratory for Applied Software Engineering.

The University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI), successfully hosted the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) "Reshape to Sustain: Sustainable Future Enabled by Next-Level Digital Transformation" from 28 June to 4 July 2026, bringing together 28 students and 13 academic staff members from seven European universities.
We invite you to a lecture titled “From Research Ideas to Research Artefacts: Building Collaboration in Informatics and Design Science Research.” The lecture is part of the Faculty’s internal “Time 4 Science” project and will take place on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, from 12:00 AM, in Lecture Hall 10 (FOI1). The speaker will be Professor Alta van der Merwe, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at the University of Pretoria, and a long-standing friend of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics.
Students presented the results of the COIL - Collaborative Online International Learning project (28th May 2026). The innovative COIL learning method was implemented 2018 at FOI and is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Violeta Vidaček Hainš. During the past winter semester 2025/26, COIL was implemented in the Human Resources and Career Development course, 3rd year of the undergraduate study program Information Technologies and Business Digitalization, co-leded by Prof. Dr. Marina Klačmer Čalopa, and associates assistants Dr. Karolina Kokot and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarina Pažur Aničić. The head of COIL at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is professor Andreia Carita, and at the University of Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, Prof. Dr. Machdel Mathee.
A Cooperation Agreement between the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) and the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) was signed in South Korea on May 12, 2026, with the aim of strengthening international academic cooperation through faculty and student mobility, as well as the development of joint research and project initiatives.
