Part 1: Spark Presentations (Approx. 20 minutes)
To set the stage for our discussion, we'll begin with a series of brief introductory presentations (5-7 minutes each) that will serve as catalysts for our collaborative work.
Topics:
Challenges and Opportunities in AI Implementation: What are the key challenges in introducing digital and AI-based solutions, and how can we effectively address them to enhance learning and teaching?
Characteristics of Agile Decision-Making: An overview of what it means to be agile in a higher education context.
Perspectives:
Faculty Perspective: Sharing insights on the current digital landscape and the potential impact of AI on teaching and learning.
Administrative (Managerial) Leadership: Highlighting strategic goals for digital transformation and AI implementation and the importance of agile decision-making in achieving them.
Student Role: Highlighting student expectations and needs regarding digital learning environments and AI-powered educational tools.
Part 2: Collaborative 'Cracker Barrel' Group Discussions (Approx. 40 minutes)
Following the presentations, we'll break into smaller, diverse groups for an open and informal discussion. The central question for each group will be:
How can our higher education institution enhance its decision-making agility concerning the digital transformation of education, specifically in the context of integrating Artificial Intelligence?
To guide the discussion, groups may consider the following prompts:
What are the current bottlenecks or challenges in our decision-making processes related to digital transformation and AI adoption?
What new frameworks or approaches could foster more agile and responsive decision-making?
How can we ensure diverse voices and expertise are effectively incorporated into these decisions?
What role can data and analytics play in informing quicker and more effective choices?
How can we pilot and iterate on new digital and AI-powered educational initiatives more rapidly?
The goal is to foster a free flow of ideas and perspectives.
Part 3: Group Recommendations and Synthesis (Approx. 30 minutes)
Each group will then synthesize their key insights and formulate recommendations for enhancing decision-making agility. A representative from each group will briefly share these recommendations with the larger assembly.
We will conclude with a brief open forum to discuss the presented recommendations and identify potential next steps for further exploration and implementation.
This session aims to be a dynamic and collaborative space for generating actionable ideas to propel our institution towards a more agile and digitally transformed educational future, thoughtfully incorporating the potential of AI.
